Donald Trump is the ultimate RINO
What is a real republican anyhow?
Donald Trump still has control of the Republican Party. In spite of the 91 state and federal felony indictments that are now pending against him, so far, he is, shamefully, still the frontrunner for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination as of this 2023 Labor Day weekend.
Trump loves to call people derogatory names: Things like “communist,” and “fascist,” and “corrupt,” and “deranged,” and dozens of other harsh epithets, including that tired old standby, “RINO,” which stands for “Republican In Name Only.”
But, that certainly doesn’t make him a real republican, in the small “r,” literal sense of the word. Because he’s not one at all. In fact, he is as far away from being a real republican as any single man could possibly be.
What is a republican, in the American sense, anyway?
First of all, a real republican is a man or woman who is solidly grounded in the moral basis of the American republic. That moral basis consists of the biblical principles that have been believed in by most Americans going back to, and beyond, this continent’s English settlement more than four hundred years ago. Christian principles such as, “love your neighbor as yourself,” and, even “love your enemies.”
The eminently un-Christian Donald Trump loves no one but himself, and the whole world knows it. He is a walking, talking ball of hatred for most everyone, but especially for his enemies. Just today I saw another of his stark, raving mad self-made videos in which he was talking about “an eye for any eye,” and “fighting fire with fire.” Yesterday alone, he made 31 of these crazy, ranting clips, in which, overwhelmingly, the main theme was harsh retribution against anyone and everyone who doesn’t worship at his feverishly-imagined throne.
This country has never seen anyone remotely like him. Not even close.
A real republican believes in the theistic, natural law moral principles of our national charter, the Declaration of Independence:
"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that ALL men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men."
This is not a man who believes that God created us all in His image and likeness, and that we must ALL therefore be treated equally before the law. If he did, he wouldn’t make crass political calculations that except certain disfavored categories of innocent unborn human beings from the protection of our laws.

Real republicans can read God’s most fundamental and important laws, and the clear, explicit, imperative requirements of our Constitution, and understand that both apply equally to unborn children.

Real republicans don’t support the homosexual agenda, like Trump does. They understand that none of the stated purposes of our Constitution can possibly be fulfilled if the natural family, and everything civilizationally-essential that is built upon it societally, has been destroyed.

Real republicans also recognize that the framers of our Constitution set up a republic whose main feature is LIMITED GOVERNMENT. Trump, in addition to having signed a multitude of unconstitutional spending bills as president, has always supported some version or other of socialized medicine, which far exceeds the enumerated powers.

I could go on and on. This piece could easily run to 20,000 words if I wanted it to. The evidence against Trump being any kind of real republican is as overwhelming and obvious as the mountains of evidence piled up against him in his looming court trials.
But, I think I’ve proven the point. And so, I rest my case.
One last thing, though:
If the Republican Party ever wants to be taken seriously again by real republicans, or by anybody else, it’s going to have to thoroughly repudiate Trump and Trumpism, and return to the moral and constitutional principles that made the American republic great.
